Sarah Hubbard breaks barebow world record with 648
Great Britain’s Sarah Hubbard has broken the barebow women’s 50-metre qualification round world record, shooting 648 out of a possible 720 at stage two of the Archery GB National Tour at Meriden Archery Club in Coventry, United Kingdom.
The mark remains subject to ratification.
Hubbard’s score surpasses by one point the previous world record of 647 set by Italy’s Giulia Mantilli in Terni in June 2025.
“I’m super thrilled, it was a really great day,” said Hubbard, who also went on to win the competition.
“I came into this weekend knowing that my qualification rounds have been much stronger this year, but I didn’t really come in thinking, ‘Oh, I’m going to go for this.’ It just kind of happened.”
She admitted the closing stages became increasingly tense once she realised the record was within reach.
“It was nerve-wracking, of course, when you know that you’re on for it,” she said. “You’ve just got to stay as calm as you can.”
“But it’s conquering those nerves that I think makes the difference.”
It is the second individual outdoor world record broken this year after James Lutz set a new compound men’s world record in Florida in April.
