European Games places allocated at Antalya 2026
The 2026 European Outdoor Championships also served as the primary qualification event for the archery competition at the 2027 European Games in Istanbul.
A total of 23 member associations secured quota places through performances in Antalya, with Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Türkiye and Slovenia earning full recurve men’s team quotas, while Belarus, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Türkiye secured full recurve women’s team quotas.
Under World Archery’s updated rules, athletes are ranked according to their final placing rather than the elimination phase they reached. As a result, there is no longer a need for a separate qualification tournament.
The revised ranking system provides a clearer overall classification from the main championship itself, which can then be used directly to allocate quota places for the European Games.
The final qualification places in two categories were decided by shoot-offs.
In recurve women, Moldova’s Alexandra Mirca defeated Hungary’s Lili Örkényi in a one-arrow tiebreak to secure the last available quota place.
In compound men, Great Britain’s Luke Davis earned the final quota after prevailing over Estonia’s Robin Jaatma in another shoot-off.
Several quota places were secured through standout individual performances. Newly crowned European champions Willem Bakker of the Netherlands and Nurinisso Makhmudova competing under the AIN flag both delivered title-winning campaigns that also secured quota places for their respective delegations.
A total of 96 places are available in recurve and 32 in compound for Istanbul 2027. Following the results in Antalya, 78 quota places have now been allocated.
While places were earned through the performances of specific athletes, it is ultimately up to each national federation to decide which athletes will represent it at the European Games.
Nations can qualify either a full team (three places) or an individual place in recurve men and women, and individual places in compound men and women.
Host nation Türkiye automatically receives the maximum quota of eight places.
Countries that did not secure quota places in Antalya will have another opportunity at the European Grand Prix event in March 2027, which will also be held in Antalya.
